Ankyloglossia, also known as tongue-tie means the tongue does not function normally, causing problems with babies latching onto both breast and bottle.
Tongue tie can also affect a baby's ability to achieve a deep attachment and latch at the breast and can lead to issues like colic, excessive dribbling when feeding, clicking or noisy feeds as well as nipple damage and breast pain.
We are all trained in tongue tie division and offer our services privately to parents throughout the South of England and around London. We all divide anterior and posterior tongue ties. Whilst none of us are lactation consultants, we have in-depth knowledge and experience to support mothers to breastfeed.
Jill and Eleanor trained at Southampton General under the guidance of Mervyn Griffiths and Carolyn Westcott. Sharon completed her training with Neighbourhood Midwives.
Eleanor and Jill routinely treat babies up to 9 months of age - provided they do not have opposing teeth! Sharon treats babies up to 5 months of age.
We each treat hundreds of babies every year. Parents can contact us directly to make an appointment, we do not require a referral from a health professional.
All our appointments include a full feeding assessment, tongue function assessment and tongue tie assessment. If a tongue tie division is indicated, the fee includes these assessments along with support with feeding following the procedure, aftercare information and free telephone follow up and advice.
Home visits are available (see which areas we cover) and cost between £180-£200+ depending on location. Due to increased fuel costs, we charge £180 for families within 10 mile radius of Southampton, £190 (up to 30 miles) and £210 (up to 50 miles).
Eleanor - tongue tie service in Wantage, Oxfordshire at Espina Chiropractic Clinic by appointment only. Sessions are normally held every Monday and Wednesday. Fees are £180 for tongue tie assessment and division (£100 for tongue tie assessment only). A free follow up appointment in clinic is also available if required. Eleanor also offers home visits, mostly for families who don't live in Oxfordshire, but who live near her home base in Southampton, Hants. Jill - tongue tie division service in Petersfield, Hampshire at The Wishing Well Osteopathic Practice by appointment only. Sessions are held every Wednesday. Fees are £190 for tongue tie assessment and division (£110 for tongue tie assessment only).
